CHILE
In February 2026, ten runners embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime challenge: to run the highest marathon ever attempted. From the summit of Ojos del Salado, the world’s tallest volcano at 6,893 metres, they descended through some of the planet’s most unforgiving terrain. This record-breaking expedition embodied the very essence of human potential. It was a testament to those who dare to go beyond the ordinary, redefining what is possible in one of the most extreme environments on Earth.
SWEDEN
On October 25th 2025, 55 intrepid runners conquered an extraordinary challenge: to run the deepest marathon ever run. Covering 42.2km within the Garpenberg Zinc Mine in Sweden, they descended to a staggering depth of 1,120 metres below sea level. No one had attempted a marathon at this depth before. Participants endured temperatures of 24°C and 72% humidity, in total silence and ran in complete darkness with only their head torches for light.
TANZANIA
In September 2025 a group from a global technology company took on a 10-day professional development challenge to climb Kilimanjaro, focusing on leadership, team work and resilience. At 5,895m, Kilimanjaro stands as the highest freestanding mountain in the world and the tallest peak in Africa (one of the famous ‘seven summits’). For this group, watching the sun rise over the African plains from the highest point on the continent was an unforgettable team experience.

Working with our partner, Adventure Alternative, BecomingX has taken several groups to Mount Kilimanjaro. Led by two leading experts in adventure and personal challenge, participants trek through multiple ecosystems, from lush rainforest to alpine desert, as they ascend Kilimanjaro (5,895m) - the highest freestanding mountain on Earth and one of the Seven Summits. The customisable trip (usually around 10 days) is designed to push limits, build resilience, and develop leadership skills in one of the world’s most awe-inspiring environments. We are proudly different. BecomingX is a B Corporation, certified to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance. We offset twice the amount of emissions from our travel on the ground. We also offer the option to offset all flights to ensure air travel is carbon positive, and ground travel is carefully planned to have the least impact on the environment possible, while supporting local businesses and leaving no trace behind.
We aim to deliver experiences that are life changing, not just for our participants, but for the communities that we visit. Where possible we employ local staff, who are highly trained and have been working with international visitors for decades. In Africa, we encourage events to be joined by local beneficiaries of our projects, helping support their personal development whilst also providing participants with a unique experience to learn more about the local way of life. We aim to include fundraising elements wherever possible and also encourage participants to fundraise individually – to date we have raised over $1m for charity.
